Overview

The process of going to war takes a bit of time and effort from both sides of the battle. However, war makes up much of the game, so you will certainly get used to fighting and how the whole process works. Put short, you have Hostile and War, each moving along at a certain pace and having it's own benefits, as seen on the Relations page.

Hostile

When protection ends, there is a period of several days where the game progresses fairly slowly and war is unable to commence. However, after that period is over, you are able to war other sectors. Before the process can begin, the two sectors must first be hostile.

In the politics page, the sector leader is given the option to declare a sector hostile. The Hostile period is basically a several day stretch of time that you are given before war starts. For war to start, both opposing sectors must fill the relations bar by making attacks and aggressive probings.

During hostile, the commander personalities are given the chance to use their early conquest attacks. Aggressive probings become available, and your offense and defense are boosted.

Once both bars are full, war begins.

War

Now the fun can begin.

In war, your bonuses raise up even higher, making things a bit more interesting. Conquest becomes available to everyone, and the big attacks start.

Unlike hostile, how much land you gain and lose is very important. Here there is one bar, and it's a game of tug of war to fill the bar. The object is to win by making your opponent surrender, or just beating the heck out of them. Whoever is the most strategic and tactful will come out victorious and have one more war win further in the quest for most war-like sector.
